SIMBA Sports Club took its brand to the heart of the wild on Saturday, August 1, 2026, by launching the club’s new 2026 jersey and official Simba Week celebrations at the breathtaking Ngoitoktok area in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
In a move that has excited both football and tourism lovers, the Dar es Salaam giants chose one of Africa’s leading tourist attractions as the stage for unveiling the new Mnyama jersey and the club’s special 90th anniversary logo.
The historic launch was accompanied by cool winds blowing from the Ngoitoktok pool, with hippos swimming nearby while the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater provided a dramatic backdrop.
Security was intensified as lion families roaming the crater added to the unforgettable atmosphere.
More than 300 Simba supporters from Tanzania and other countries attended the colourful ceremony, which was also graced by the management of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) led by Deputy Commissioner for Corporate Services, Aidan Makala.
Speaking at the event, Makala said the occasion represented a successful partnership between Simba SC and Ngorongoro.
“This event is a positive outcome of the cooperation between Simba and Ngorongoro. We have promoted domestic tourism, Simba supporters have returned home, and most importantly we are helping to strengthen sports tourism as Tanzania prepares for the 2027 AFCON tournament that will be hosted in our country,” said Makala.
Simba’s Information and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, described Ngorongoro as much more than a wildlife reserve.
“Ngorongoro has many tourist attractions where nature, cultural heritage, history, and archaeology exist together. By launching our jersey inside the conservation area, Simba is bringing its fans back home and proving that their dreams, vision, and emotions connect with the real beauty of Ngorongoro,” he said.
The launch transformed Ngorongoro into a sea of red, white, and black, as Simba supporters sang, danced, and celebrated the beginning of Simba Week in one of the most spectacular settings ever used for a football jersey launch in Tanzania.
For many fans, it was more than a football event. It was a powerful statement that Mnyama is ready to conquer both the pitch and the tourism stage, with the roar of Simba echoing across the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater.
