Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini’s visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan) is being viewed as an important diplomatic and economic mission that could help deepen Eswatini’s development partnerships at a time when the country is seeking investment, innovation and stronger international cooperation.
Representing His Majesty King Mswati III, the Prime Minister is expected to participate in the Ketagelan Forum and hold high-level bilateral engagements with President Lai Ching-te and other Taiwanese leaders.
Speaking during the visit, Dlamini highlighted the longstanding friendship between Eswatini and Taiwan, describing the relationship as one built on mutual respect and shared development goals.
The significance of the visit lies in the areas identified for enhanced cooperation, including trade, investment, technology, agriculture, health and innovation.
These sectors are regarded as critical to Eswatini’s efforts to create jobs, modernise its economy and improve service delivery for citizens.
Analysts say stronger collaboration with Taiwan could provide opportunities for skills transfer, digital innovation, agricultural productivity and healthcare support, all of which remain key priorities for Eswatini’s national development agenda.
