South Africa has scored a major hospitality coup after international luxury hotel brand EDITION opened its first African property at Cape Town’s famous V&A Waterfront.
The opening of The Cape Town EDITION on 27 October marks the brand’s entry into the African market, placing the Mother City alongside international destinations such as London, New York and Tokyo.
The new hotel, situated at Quay 7, boasts 142 guest rooms and suites overlooking the Waterfront’s superyacht marina, with spectacular views of Table Mountain.
And there is plenty on offer for guests looking for a luxury experience.
The property features restaurants and bars, including Shale, rooftop restaurant and bar EAVE, the Lobby Bar and Punch Room.
It also has a rooftop swimming pool, a spa, a gym and conference facilities.
The hotel has been designed to bring together international luxury standards and Cape Town’s distinctive architectural and cultural character.
KwaZulu-Natal also has a connection to the development, with furnishings and rugs woven by Shuttleworth Weaving contributing to the hotel’s interiors.
The arrival of EDITION adds another internationally recognised hospitality brand to Cape Town’s growing luxury accommodation market.
For South Africa’s tourism industry, the opening raises expectations around international investment, job opportunities and the country’s ability to attract high-spending travellers.
