The organisers of the 2026 Tribute to Women Concert have found themselves at the centre of a social media storm after announcing that award-winning musician will perform at this year’s event.
The organisers proudly shared the news, saying they were “beyond excited” to have secured Sjava for the concert, which will take place on Saturday, 29 August 2026, at in Emmarentia.
But instead of applause, the announcement was met with fierce criticism from some social media users, who questioned whether Sjava was the right choice for an event dedicated to celebrating women.
One user wrote:”‘Tribute to Women’ and Sjava in the same post? La nyela.”
Another commented:”Tribute to Women? Sjava? Same poster? Hai lol.”
Others brought up the rape allegations that were previously made against the singer.
“Wasn’t this man accused of rape?” one user asked.
Not everyone agreed with the criticism. Some users defended Sjava, pointing out that he was never convicted.
One supporter wrote:”I love the irony of this post. A falsely accused artist gets booked to perform at a women’s concert… Peak cinema.”
Sjava has consistently denied the allegations made against him, and the criminal case did not result in a conviction.
The booking has once again divided public opinion. While some believe the organisers made the wrong decision by inviting the singer to perform at a women’s event, others argue that he should not continue to be judged over allegations that did not lead to a conviction.
At the time of publication, the organisers had not publicly responded to the growing backlash surrounding Sjava’s booking.
