Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has been blasted by a Zimbabwean organisation that says he must stop interfering in the country’s politics and concentrate on South Africa’s own problems!
The Zimbabwe Economic Forum (ZEF) came out guns blazing after Malema recently commented on constitutional developments and the possibility of extending President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term in office.
In a fiery statement signed by chairman Jay Israel Jacob Dube, the forum accused Malema and the EFF of making “misguided and irresponsible” remarks that undermine Zimbabwe’s sovereignty and constitutional processes.
The organisation said Malema has no authority to tell Zimbabwe or the ruling ZANU PF how to run the country.
Instead, the forum challenged the Red Berets to fix the crises facing South Africa before pointing fingers across the border.
“South Africa is battling unemployment, violent crime, inequality and serious economic problems. Those are the issues the EFF should be focusing on,” the statement said.
The ZEF also defended Mnangagwa’s government, saying the Second Republic has made major progress in rebuilding infrastructure, expanding irrigation schemes, improving mining and industry, strengthening healthcare and education, and improving digital connectivity.
The forum further claimed government policies are helping stabilise Zimbabwe’s economy while attracting investment and creating jobs.
The organisation insisted that Zimbabwe’s future must be decided by Zimbabweans, not politicians from neighbouring countries.
It ended its statement by urging Malema and the EFF to stop what it called “misleading commentary” and instead promote respect, truth and constructive engagement between African nations.
The latest war of words is likely to fuel fresh political tensions between the outspoken South African opposition leader and voices defending Zimbabwe’s government.
