Izwi Lomzansi FM presenter Portia Maphumulo has confirmed that she has been suspended from her duties at the radio station following controversy surrounding her involvement with an investment initiative known as The Gated Capital Club.

Taking to social media, Maphumulo revealed that she intends to release a video showing payments allegedly made by the club in an effort to address growing concerns and allegations that the operation is a scam.

“After being suspended from work due to false information, I’ll be sharing a video showing the payments that have been made by the club,” she wrote.

The controversy comes after social media users raised questions about the legitimacy of the club, which charges a once-off joining fee and promises investment returns through different packages.

In a Facebook post dated April 14, Maphumulo promoted the club and encouraged members of the public to join.

She stated that the club had been operating for just over two weeks and outlined membership and investment requirements.

Screenshots accompanying the post appeared to show payment confirmations and payout amounts.

However, criticism intensified in recent weeks as some participants reportedly complained about delays in receiving expected returns.

Responding to the allegations, Maphumulo insisted that the business is legitimate and that challenges being experienced are related to slow business activity rather than fraud.

“Despite explaining this multiple times, some people still believe it’s a scam. It isn’t.

Business has simply been slow and we’re working through it. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this time,” she said.

She also clarified that promoters associated with the club can participate either on a full-time or part-time basis.

Neither Izwi Lomzansi FM nor Maphumulo has publicly disclosed the duration of the suspension or whether a formal investigation is underway.

The matter continues to attract significant attention on social media, where opinions remain divided between supporters who believe the business should be given time to recover and critics who are demanding greater transparency regarding its operations and investment model.

Attempts to obtain comment from Izwi Lomzansi FM were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
