A Durban businessman and Sizekhaya Holdings owner, Sandile Zungu, has left social media users in stitches after sharing a humorous story about an incident that happened to him on a flight.

Zungu, whose company recently took over the operation of South Africa’s National Lottery, took to Facebook to explain why he usually prefers an aisle seat whenever he travels by air.

According to him, he prefers the seat because he drinks a lot of water and likes being able to visit the restroom without inconveniencing other passengers.

However, during a recent FlySafair flight, a woman politely asked him to make way so that she could get to her window seat.

Telling the story in his trademark humorous style, Zungu said he quickly realised that had he remained seated while the woman squeezed past, he could have found himself in a rather awkward situation.

“I ended up getting completely out of my seat so that she could comfortably pass and get to hers,” he wrote.

After taking her seat, the woman thanked him and said: “Thank you, abuti, you are a real gentleman.”Zungu jokingly admitted that being called a gentleman made him feel rather proud of the compliment.

His post quickly attracted attention online, with many social media users laughing at the way he narrated the incident.

Some followers jokingly suggested that it might be time for him to buy a private jet to avoid situations like this.

Others remarked that now that Sizekhaya Holdings is running the National Lottery, perhaps the time has come for him to consider purchasing his own aircraft.

Zungu is well known for blending business insights with humour on social media, and this latest post once again showed his ability to turn an ordinary travel experience into a story that entertains thousands.K
