Reports have emerged that renowned Cape Town businessman and founder of the world-famous Mzoli’s Place, Mzoli Ngcawuzele, has passed away following an illness.
Ngcawuzele was best known for establishing Mzoli’s Place in Gugulethu, Cape Town, in 2003.

Mzoli’s Place became a symbol of township entrepreneurship and economic revival. The venue earned praise from many prominent figures, including celebrity chefs and tourists from around the world who visited Cape Town to experience its unique atmosphere.
Although the establishment ultimately closed its doors in 2021 due to economic challenges, security concerns, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mzoli Ngcawuzele’s legacy endured. He remained widely respected as one of the entrepreneurs who changed the way the world viewed South Africa’s township businesses.
His contribution to entrepreneurship and township tourism leaves a lasting mark on South Africa’s business landscape.
