SIZWE DHLOMO has moved to shut down speculation that his long-standing friendship with Scoop Makhathini has fallen apart.
The veteran broadcaster was responding to a question on X after a social media user brought up comments allegedly made by Scoop about their friendship.
Sizwe was asked whether he and Scoop were still good, with the user pointing to comments about friends not checking on Scoop when he was going through a difficult period.
His response was brief and seemingly intended to put the speculation to bed:
“Yeah, we’re good. We obviously don’t hang out every day like we used to but we’re good.”
The response comes after years of the pair being closely associated in South African entertainment and radio circles.
Sizwe and Scoop became a formidable radio duo during their YFM days, hosting shows that became closely associated with South African hip-hop culture.
Their partnership was built around their contrasting personalities, humour and deep knowledge of the music scene.
Historical coverage of their work describes their friendship as stretching back years, with the pair eventually becoming known collectively as Siz ’n Scoop.
Their professional paths later diverged, with both pursuing separate projects in radio, television and entertainment.
Yet their names have remained linked, particularly among fans who remember the chemistry they had during their YFM years.
Sizwe’s latest comment appears to suggest that the friendship has simply changed with time.
The broadcaster did not deny that they no longer spend as much time together.
Instead, he acknowledged that their relationship is different from what it was when they were younger.
“We obviously don’t hang out every day like we used to,” he said.
But the important part of his response was clear:
“But we’re good.”
The exchange has since attracted attention from fans who have followed the pair since the early days of Siz ’n Scoop.
